Your Nag Tibba adventure begins early in the morning from Dehradun (Prince Chowk). After pick-up at 6:00 AM, we drive through scenic mountain roads via Mussoorie and Kempty Falls, stopping briefly for breakfast. The road traces the Yamuna River and gradually ascends toward Pantwari Village, the trek’s starting point.
After reaching Pantwari by noon, you’ll have lunch and prepare for the trek. The mobile network becomes sparse from here onward. The trail begins with a cemented path that transitions into rocky terrain, surrounded by terraced fields and picturesque hamlets. Look out for Goat Village, a charming eco-tourism resort along the way.
A dense oak and rhododendron forest soon takes over, offering shade and serenity. After about 3 hours of trekking, we reach Camp 1, located in a beautiful forest clearing overlooking a rolling valley. On clear days, clouds rise dramatically from the gorge below, creating a magical sunset scene. Enjoy a hot dinner and a peaceful night under a starlit Himalayan sky.
Trek to Nag Tibba Summit, Return to Pantwari, and Drive to Dehradun
- Altitude: 3,000 m / 9,900 ft
- Trek Distance: 12 km | 10–11 hrs
- Drive Distance: 90 km | 5–6 hrs
- Accommodation: None (Return to Dehradun)
Today is the summit day and will be the most exciting part of the trek. We start early after a light breakfast and begin the ascent through thick forest trails. In winters, these paths are often snow-covered, adding an element of thrill. After about 30 minutes, two open patches offer your first grand Himalayan views.
The trail levels out toward Nag Devta Temple, located at the base of the summit. This spot offers panoramic views of the Garhwal ranges, and from here, the summit trail begins to climb steeply through the forest.
As you near the summit, a ridge walk brings you to the Nag Tibba Top, marked with flags. Standing at 3,000 meters, the summit offers 360-degree views of snow-draped peaks including Bandarpunch, Kedarnath, Kala Nag, Gangotri, and Srikanth.
Spend some time enjoying the vistas, click photos, and soak in the Himalayan energy. We then descend to Camp 1 for a hot lunch. After lunch, continue the descent to Pantwari, and from there, board the vehicle for your return drive to Dehradun, reaching by late evening.
